Just for the record folks, I know there are other straps out there.....But please consider the Swamp Strap: it was designed by my brother-in-law many years ago, probably in the mid to late 1960's. He fabricated a few for himself, and then over the years started making them for friends. Everyone was always telling him "you should sell these things, they're great". Three years ago, before he was able to affectively market it -- Jerry passed away. He did live to see it patented, and manufactured -- AND SO now, YOU SEE, we the family HAVE A WHOLE BIG BUNCH of SWAMP STRAPS to sell ON EBAY!! Your purchase will be greatly appreciated.
Let me end with one of Jerry's favorite Tips and reminders to his student photographers in the wild .........
Avoid wearing sunglasses when going afield for wildlife observation,
as the wildlife perceives them as preddatory eyes.
Please, ASK questions if you need further clarification or any additional information.
Thank you.

Q:
Wish you had a photo of the wearer's back. :) Does it crisscross between the shoulder blades in the back? If so, is the crisscross held in place or fortified? THX.

Thanks so much for your inquiry. I am going to upload a picture, hopefully later tonight or tomorrow. The strap "can" be worn two ways: to cross in the back, you simply do a figure-8; no extra piece is really needed - equipment on a crossed strap will generally be carried higher, chest level -- much like the other straps you see here on ebay. The advantage of "not" crossing the swamp strap, buckled behind your waist, at the small of the back, you have more ability to control where you want to carry the camera, high, or low. My brother-in-law would often use two straps at one time, his binoculars were on a strap that he crossed in the back, keeping the binoculars at chest level, while his camera, kept more at waist level, was carried on the strap buckled at the small of his back, both binoculars, and camera, were carried without interference, both snug to the body, and instantly usable. The other plus about swamp strap not having to be crossed in the back, is that it can be worn over the bulkiest of winter clothing. Crossed straps sort of snug-up, under your armpits, and with bulky winter outerwear, is uncomfortable, and hinders your freedom of movement. ------------ anyway, hopefully i will locate someone here today to be a model for me, and I will take a few pictures to upload later. Again, thank you for your interest.

Hi Jo Ann, Thank you very much for letting me testing this jerry's SWAMP STRAP. It is a good tool to keep my optical equipment handy when I hike. I tried jerry's SWAMP STRAP last weekend. I must say that it works great with regular backpack or Kelty Pinnacle Baby Carrier. You have to wear Swamp Strap BEFORE you get anything on your back. And you have to adjust Strap position after that (of course). I used it to care my binocular and a camera and had no issues. Adapters helped me to connect everything very easy. My only concern was that I needed a little training on how to wear Swamp Strap after all adjustments. Also, I highly recommend not cutting off extra strap because of different clothe you can wear or if you plan to share it with family members. Everyone has its own body structure. I used VELCRO® Brand ONE-WRAP® Straps to keep extra SWAMP STRAP tight. Just wrap it around extra strap and you are good to go.
