A very large book of some 506 pages that measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 2 1/4" and weighs 5 lb 3 oz. This copy is one of only 500 printed in 1895 by Chapman & Hall of London for distribution in "England and America". This edition also includes 26 illustrations by GEORGE CRUIKSHANK. On the basis of descriptions of this book from professional dealers, I suspect that this copy was rebound and the title from the original binding used on the spine (see illustration). There is no dustjacket. The binding is sound, the textpages are clean and untrimmed. There is a bookplate tipped in on the front flyleaf--a "coat of arms" but no name. All the illustrations are present and include the original "page protectors". A very nice collectible of one of DICKENS' best known stories--a true classic!! Shipping is FREE in the US and insurance is optional, but recommended. I will gladly ship to areas outside the US but please check the shipping costs before bidding.
