Major Lance - Sometimes I Wonder c/w I'm So Lost - OKeh
Superb Curtis Mayfield song is the kind of strutting, swaggering dancer that wasn't quite fast enough when the northern scene was all about 100mph stompers but was recorded a number of times, Curtis and the Impressions did another good version. This, however is the best version IMO, just that bit more high octane with a litle more power, a little more snap to it. The flip is an example of the kind of wistful ballad that Major also did well when he wasn't filling the dance floors.
Condition: A-side EX++++ with very slight crackle on the run in and run out but none to be heard during the music. B-side ballad is VG++++, although the music is quieter allowing a little light surface noise in the background to be heard, the music still dominates easily.

I use the following grades for the overall condition of the record with the greatest emphasis on the playing surface:
NM = Little or no signs of play.
EX = Small marks not obviously audible.
VG = Scratches/scuffs, marks, audible wear .
The + (up to 4 ie ++++) and - (occasionally) are used in an attempt
to fine tune grades, for example how much scuffing or scratches, how
deep or fine are scuffs/scratches or especially how audible relative to
the music. Grading's not an exact science and by expanding the range of
grades then the same record graded on different occasions is going to
be in the same neighborhood (eg: not VG one day and EX another day).
