This auction is for a beautiful tan and black check overcoat with exceptional tailoring and styling by one of Britain’s favourites Austin Reed. Austin Reed are one of Britain’s most respected and longest established drapers, much frequented by the women of Britain whether looking for stylish daywear or an extra special coat, dress or suit.

This elegant coat is beautifully made and loosely designed on the Edwardian era; the wool mix cloth is woven into a classic black and tan check. It has a lovely black velvet collar, has a double breasted front closing on two buttons with one smaller button beneath the neckline for added warmth. There are three working pockets: two side pockets and one breast pocket and the coat has one centre back vent. It is lined throughout in black acetate, although there have been repairs to the pocket lining and to the lining above the back vent. With classic tailoring, beautiful soft to the touch cloth, a superb garment ideal for town and country wear.

Although this is a new venture for me on eBay I’ve had a background in vintage clothing stretching back over 25 years. From 1981 to 1984 I’d help run one of the UK’s most famous vintage clothing stores, the original “Thrift Shop” at 67 Falcon Road, Battersea, London, and in 1985 I was a co-founder of the now legendary Aero Leather Clothing Company.

More recently I’ve helped my husband run the eBay vintage menswear retailer, the-original-thrift-shop which has a current feedback rating of nearly 5000 with a 100% positive rating and over 1000 repeat buyers.
