Antique 1891 french silk velvet sample swatch book

Item Description

Up for auction is this 68 plain 94 Antique 1895 french silk and velvet fabric swatch sample book. It is a museum de-accession from a major New York fashion museum. This is a huge 21 inch by 15 inch book with about 169 pages, with many unique, rarely seen silk and silk/ velvet samples as shown. There are about 95 pages of silk and velvet brocades, patterns, and florals of all kinds, and about 30 pages of vibrant colorful plain silks and velvets of all colors of the rainbow, along with many textured, ribbed and even shimmery color change silks and velvets as shown All non-faded! I have taken, many, many pictures so you can see for yourself some of the gorgeous fabric samples. They look even more amazing, in person. Please Note--As you can see in some of the pictures and where I am pointing in one of the last pictures, some of the ribbing or patterns from one page have indented on some of the plain velvets, as shown. (From storage at the museum and the weight of the book). Some pink spatters on the page edges on the side of the book as shown that do not affect the fabrics inside. The binding is intact but as I am showing you, the front cover is still intact but stressed/ beginning to separate from the spine. The pages are in overall very good condition and are intact. There samples are in varying sizes, but most are pretty large. Over time, a few may have been removed, but as you can see there are many samples of many patterns! These are fabulous samples that will take your breath away! Please see my other fabric and french sample books! Also, once these are gone they are gone forever and I fully expect to sell out of these because I have sold out of similar books before. This is truly an opportunity, especially for designers, decorators, graphic artists and anyone with a passion for antique fabrics. A great gift idea too. Please contact me with any questions.
