In 1984 Great Britain, the National Coal Board announced that an agreement reached
after a previous 1974 strike had become obsolete, and that in order to
rationalise government subsidisation of industry they intended to close
20 coal mines. Twenty thousand jobs would be lost, and many communities
in the north of England and in Wales, would lose their primary source of employment. An offshoot of the Style Council, offered here is the Council Collective's "Soul Deep". An all-star lineup came together in support of the miners' cause. Not only Councillors Paul Weller and Mick Talbot, also on the project were Dee C. Lee, Jimmy Ruffin, and Steve White, and honorary Counicllor Dizzy Hites. The aim of this record was to raise money for the striking miners and their families. This is an remnant of that very contentious period in history. It's also now an excellent British funk/soul classic. Solidarity with a groovy rhythm! Received with shrink-wrap in like-new condition. This import vinyl is like new, played only once to confirm like-new rating. Sound is pristine. Shall arrive in original artwork sleeve (pictured). Only one available. Perfect for the Style Council/Paul Weller fan/completist.
