On the Choice of a Common Language, edited by H. Jacob.  Hardcover book published by Sir Isaac Pitman 1946, 130 pages. As nations draw closer together the need of the peoples for international communication is urgently felt. This short history of the many attempts made during the last 300 years (1946) shows that today a second auxiliary language is a practical possibility. The simple and regular structure of a planned system is in itself an introduction to comparative language study. Teachers can use it to demonstrate the patterns of language, and the nature, growth, and development of the Latin-derived tongues. This book is in very good condition.  The dust jacket is in poor condition.  There is wear to the edges (some tiny rips and creasing), corners (some minor bumping) and to the top of the spine (creasing, some small rips).  There is some shelf wear overall as well as scuffs and marks. There is some fading to the spine. The cover is in very good condition.  There is some slight wear to the corners and to the top and bottom of the spine.  There are a few very minor marks and scuffs.  The book itself is in very good condition. There are some minor marks to the outer edges. The front endpapers have some minor marks.  Pages 19 to 34 have been slightly miss cut at the bottom edge (a few millimeters short).  There is some yellowing of the pages.  Overall a very good copy, with some wear to the dust jacket.
