I first  encountered The World of Harry Partch upon its release in 1969. As a neophyte Columbia Records promotion manager, my simple task was to promote the LP to radio stations. However it had completely unsettled my being. Thankfully our press department sent along volumes of press clippings. Many illustrated and attempted to explain Mr. Partch's handmade instruments. These readings gave me somewhat of a background, though not an understanding, for what my ears beheld in the grooves.
