This hardcover, green cloth over board book is entitled:  MANUAL OF ASTRONOMY, a text-book, by Charles A. Young, Ph.D. LLD, Late professor of astronomy in Princeton University, Ginn and Company, Boston-ny, chicago-london.  611 pages, measures approx 5.75x8.5". 

Some subjects include: 

  • Astronomical Instruments, telescopes, timekeepers, chronographs, almucantar, sextant, etc.   Dip in the horizon, parallax, etc. 
  • Fundamental problems of practicak astronomy, latitude, time, longitude, the right ascension and declination of a heavenly body, etc.,
  • the earth as an astronomical body, its form, rotation and dimension, mass, weight and gravitation, etc.
  • the orbital motion of the earth, motion of the son and the ecliptic, orbital motion of the earth, seaons and calendar, etc.
  • the moon, oribital motion and the month, distance, dimensions, mass, density and force of gravity, physical condition, etc.
  • the sun
  • and so much more!

Nicely illustrated.   Some bumps to thecover.   The leather spine is cracking and may disconnect at any time, with bumps to the edges..  Good clean pages.  A couple of front pages are loosening, but still attached.
