Book Description: Knopf, New York.  1964. 8vo- over 7¾" - 9¾" tall ,pp 161. First Edition, Second Printing. First Printing, second issue with five lines of printing information on the last page. Illustrated by Joseph Schindelman. First editions precede the English edition by some three years. Book Condition: Near Fine++, appears unread. Maroon colored boards with mustard colored endpapers, title to cover board blindstamped, titles to spine in gold gilt. Spine and hinges are tight with the pages fanning easily, all corners at a point, extremely crisp and clean boards, text block and interior. NO WRITING OR INSCRIPTIONS. Appears to be in unread condition. SECOND ISSUE DUST JACKET protected in Brodart cover and shows price of $3.95 on front flap and ISBN number on rear panel. The dust jacket is in Good+ condition with shelf wear to all extremities and chipping to head/tail of spine and corner tips, piece of upper spine missing (see pic), small closed tear to lower rear flap (see pic) but does not affect the integrity of this dust jacket. Age appropriate toning. A very collectible 1st edition book with an attractive later issue dust jacket.
