Jimmy McGary - the First Time: Private jazz LP SEALED

Note: I abide by strict standards when grading all LPs. This is a NM-, VG+, VG, VG-, G+, and G scale. You can rely on my conservative grading as you'll see in my descriptions.

LP Condition: NM- (still SEALED)

                All of my open copies of this LP are in perfect playing condition. Each of these discs are in dead stock, unplayed condition since, after all, they sat on the shelves of the Music Exchange for almost 30 years. This is a sealed copy and is presumed to be in perfect playing condition. However, please be aware that I cannot be held responsible for damage to the LP since I cannot grade these albums without breaking the seal. If you feel more comfortable buying an opened copy, I suggest you do so. I have opened copies for sale too. This copy is designed for serious record collectors who know what they are getting into. Of course, these records came from the same source and every opened record has played well enough to merit positive feedback so far.             

Cover Condition: NM- (still SEALED)

                All of my open copies of this record have a little ringwear. There are no other invasive flaws here so the cover is graded at VG+: no discoloration, no seam splits, no water damage, or any cut corners. Were it not for the light ringwear, I’d call this a dead stock copy since it sat on the shelves ever since it was pressed in 1979.

Description:

                Up for auction is a nice private press jazz LP by Jimmy McGary. This is a fairly heady straight-ahead outing in the same vein as Sonny Rollins’ catalogue from the early 1970s. The disc sounds great and is fit for any audiophile and/or jazz collector. This album was recorded and privately pressed in 1978 in Cincinnati, Ohio and is on Thrust records. These records were purchased from the Music Exchange’s liquidation sale last year. In short, the Music Exchange was an enormous record store in Kansas City, Missouri that specialized largely in jazz music. After going out of business years ago, there was a liquidation sale last year in which some 200,000 records were sold at $1 each. I bought the remaining lot of these records because I saw an opportunity. Of course, I kept a copy for myself since I’m plenty into the genre. However, once these are sold, there won’t be any more so get them while they’re still for sale folks.
