THIS FANTASTIC HARRIER MEASURES ABOUT 11" LONG AND HAS A 7-1/2" WINGSPAN!

 

THE FIRST 4 AV-8B HARRIERS FIRST FLEW IN NOVEMBER OF 1981. THEY ENTERED SERVICE WITH THE MARINE CORPS IN JANUARY OF 1985.THE PLANE WAS  A RE-DESIGN OF THE AV-8A HARRIER. THE NEW MODELS INCORPORATED CARBON FIBERS INTRODUCED INTO THE BODY OF THE PLANE, AS WELL AS IMPROVED LIFT DEVICES AND A RE-DESIGN OF THE FORWARD FUSELAGE AND COCKPIT.

 

POWERED BY 1- 23,800LB ROLLS ROYCE F402-RR-408 PEGASUS VECTORED THRUST TURBOFAN, PROPELLED IT TO A TOP SPEED OF 661 MPH.

 

ARMAMENT INCLUDED 1- 25MM GAU-12U CANNON, AND 6 EXTERNAL HARDPOINTS.ABLE TO CARRY AIR-TO AIR MISSILES, AS WELL AS AIR-TO SURFACE MISSILES, FREE-FALL OR GUIDED BOMBS, CLUSTER BOMBS, DISPENSER WEAPONS, NAPALM TANKS, ROCKET LAUNCHERS AND ECM PODS. FOR VERTICAL TAKE OFF THE CAPACITY IS 7,000 LBS, AND FOR SHORT TAKE OFF, UP TO 17,00 LBS.
