In addition, there is a "pocket" into which the leather or fabric would be slipped and fastened in place. The "pocket" measures about 1 5/16" wide and 1/8" thick (3cm x 4mm), which typically would be the width and thickness of the leather you would use. There is another hinged piece that is about 5/8" x 1/2" that covers the back of the "pocket". Since I am not a leather worker, I'm not sure how this is used, but it appears that you tuck your leather, gimp, or grosgrain ribbon into the pocket and glue it with a sturdy glue (I would recommend the product GOOP). The extra hinged area would be a place that would allow you to access the pocket holding the leather, then you would close it and glue it shut. This item is guaranteed authentic. Terner's of Miami was the authorized manufacturer and repair center for COACH. I purchased their hardware department when their USA plant closed in November of 2008. It is new and has never been used. I have documentation that proves it is real. This is a solid piece of high quality shiny chrome plated metal, which is exactly what you would expect from COACH. You can use it in your leather craft, purse making, shoe decorating, and belt making and repair projects. You can replace worn belt buckles on your existing belts, or add some grosgrain ribbon, fabric belting, or leather, and make your own belts. Add it to a hat band to give it some style, or use it with some of our other hardware to create a one of a kind purse or pair of shoes. Because it is a quality COACH product, you don't have to worry that it will rust or discolor your clothes. International Shipping is $3.00 anywhere in the world.
