VINTAGE EARLY BABBITT MADE IN USA MEYER 6 ? SMALL CHAMBER HARD RUBBER ALTO SAXOPHONE MOUTHPIECE. No ligature, cap or. box. I am selling this for a friend, it comes from the estate of well known sax player Ted Varges who performed with Stan Kentons band in the 40's and many others. ( There are 2 other Meyer alto mouthpieces from his estate up for auction in other sales as well as some other makes and models so please check my auctions ). There are some light scratches where the ligature mounts. It has a beautifully handcrafted rollover baffle ( for more information please check Theo Wannes web page or check Mouthpiece Museum ). Tip rail and side rails are in good condition and appear to be original. Tip opening is .080 on my gauge and appears to be original. The reed table looks to have been leveled at some time only the number 6 in easily legible so the facing designation is missing. Side walls are carved into a round throat area leading into a small chamber. Chamber diameter is slightly larger than the shank diameter. Bite area shows some tooth wear. Script appears in good condition except on the reed table. This mouthpiece has a super nice big warm tone. It is very free blowing. It is nicely suited for Jazz combo or big band. Projection is very good. IMHO this is a Great!! Alto mouthpiece if it was mine I'd keep it. This one plays as good as the 5MMC New York Meyer I have up for sale in another auction. Because it has similar blowing characteristics to that one I think this one is also an M facing. I think this piece is best suited for a Pro, a very serious student or, a collector. Please do not bid if you are looking for mint or like new condition items. Please feel free to ask any questions. I will not accept bids from zero or negative feedback bidders without contacting me first.Winning bidder will pay for shipping and handling cost. Same applies for any International bidders shipping handling insurance ,and any customs fees etc. will be paid by winning foreign bidder. I will not devalue the cost of item on any form. Sorry but California bidders will be charged 8.75 sales tax. I will refund only if I have grossly misrepresented this item and I will only refund cost of winning bid excluding shipping and handling and insurance costs etc. Be forwarned I will not offer this for a second chance buy I will relist it or sell it somewhere else so if you receive a second chance offer it is not from me. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. |
