Antique Italian Religious Book, by Tommaso Pendola 1837

 Here is a little book I picked up in Assisi, Italy, a few years ago.  I've looked in several databases, and can't find another one for sale or in a library (although I realize there must be more than one).  According to BookFinder.com, other book by Pendola range in price from $70 to over $200.  Though this book is highly uncommon, I have taken its condition into consideration for my starting price.

About Friar Tommaso Pendola (1880 - 1883)
In 1828 he founded an institute for deaf mutes in Siena (named for him), which originally was called the Royal Institute for Deaf Toscano. In 1831, thanks to financial assistance of the Grand Duke Leopold II, the institute was elevated to the dignity of boarding school.
Pendola devoted all his energies to the development of his institute, even after he became Father Provincial Scolopi, and it soon acquired considerable reputation nationally. Meanwhile, since 1830, he had taken to teach with passion Rational and Moral Philosophy at the University of Siena, quickly becoming one of the most distinguished teachers.  In 1861 he also became Professor of Philosophy of Law, and was even declared Rector of the University of Siena, a position he held until 1865.

Condition:  Book is in fair condition.  As may be seen in the photographs, the binding is intact but very loose, and there is foxing.  No water damage; type is clear.
