Folk Art Painting of a Young Lady c1850

Dating to circa 1850 and measuring 9" x 7.5" and 12.5" x 11" including its original rose wood frame, this is an intriguing oil on board painting in the English naive art tradition. It depicts a young lady with a book, lost in thought. Behind her is a Gothic arch window. The portrait of her mother(?) looks down and to the left is the naked statue of Venus de Milo. I suppose one can read too much into it, but the painting has a strange suppressed sexuality to my eye! It is unsigned and in excellent condition.
