Rare GENUINE 74 year old REAL United States Legal Tender Currency.
This Hawaii Issue Silver Certificate is beautiful! Crisp and clean, NO rips/tears or pinholes, and the Brown Treasure Seal and serial numbers are clear and intense. Nice DARK print front and back, and you can see lots of red and blue fibers in the paper. This Silver Certificate is awesome.

World War II - In July 1942, seven month after the bombing of our Pearl Harbor, these bills were issued to serviceman or US citizens entering Hawaii. Everyone had to convert upon arrival, and reconvert upon leaving. The penalties for failure to do so was stiff - up to a $5,000 fine and 5 years imprisonment. The reason for doing this was in case of a complete invasion by Japan, they would not be able to spend the captured currency. Individuals were limited to bank withdrawals of only $200 per calendar month (or to have in their control), businesses were limited to having only $500 at one time. NO other currency besides the Hawaii overprints were even allowed on the islands. Of course NO HAWAII OVERPRINTS WERE ALLOWED TO BE PHYSICALLY REMOVED FROM THE ISLANDS! This of course may be one of the reasons the notes are very difficult to come by. These notes (with Brown seals and serial numbers) included $1 Silver Certificate, and $5, $10 and $20 Federal Reserve Notes, which means, if you want a "Silver Certificate Hawaii Issue", the $1.00 bill is the only denomanation ever made, unlike the North Africa Emergency Issue Silver Certificate that came in $1.00, $5.00 and $10.00 bills, but Hawaii, only $1.00 bills.
These notes represent a very important time in our U.S. History, a time that will never be forgotten. This note captures the very essence of history documented through paper money. This is a GREAT bill to have in any collection and would make a GREAT GIFT for someone special.
