 Featured is a vintage 1922 Silver Conn "New Wonder l" C-Melody Saxophone with Conn hard shell case. Not an eb alto but similar. It is a few inches longer and is pitched in C like a piano, not e-flat like a standard alto. I am not an expert on this instrument and don't play the sax but will do my best at describing what I see. It is 27" long and in very good condition for a vintage instrument. It has a silver outer finish. The inside of the bell is brass colored. The brass color shows some fade and wear from age. The finger rests are white mother of pearl. I have tested them and it looks like all of the springs and finger rests are complete and working. It looks like all of the pads are complete also. The metal is in good condition. No dents or bends. The mouthpiece is in good shape and includes the silver cover and reed clamp. The very small type on the lower back of the horn says Patd. Dec. 8, 1914. Then the single letter C, 8 8 7 2 9, and a single letter L. The front of the bell has very nice old etching that includes a floral curl graphic, the Conn name, and Elkhart, Ind. U.S.A. The upper tube that holds the mouthpiece has its original cork and the clamp on the other end holds the piece tight in place. It could use a good cleaning and the silver finish has a slight dull finish from age. I would guess that it would clean up very nicely without too much effort. The case has some wear. The handle is very old and falling apart. Looks more like wrapped paper around it. It does work though. The two fasteners and the center lock work. No key included. The outer finish on the case has lots of old wear but is still solid and usable. Just old wear. The inside is purple felt. It shows some expected old wear, but is in surprisingly good condition. Some fade and edge wear. No big tears. The inside lid has the original label. The outside lid has the original Conn emblem plate. A rare old saxophone that will be a fine instrument with a little cleaning and adjusting. Includes the original clamp on music holder and leather strap. I have not tested the instrument because I don't have any reeds. I imagine it would play as is. Buyer to pay $30.00 for safe packing and shipping. Questions always answered. It's a scarce one. Don't miss it!
