Up for bid is "The Delineator" Magazine October 1902 issue. The Delineator Magazine began publication in 1873 and was published until 1937, when it was merged into "Pictorial Review". The magazine was published by the Butterick company and devoted much of its articles to the fashion and culture of the day. In this issue the owners of the company are offering stock options to its subscribers at half off the market value for "mutually selfish reason". "Our plan is to offer stock in the Butterick Company for sale to our public--our Delineator readers. The stock is full-paid, non-assessable of a par value of one hundred dollars a share. We offer it to you at fifty dollars a share. It is now listed on the New York Exchange among all other well-known and established securities, and any purchaser who desires to sell at a future time will find there a ready market". Included in the magazine are great black and white photos of fashions designs of the day. A section on "Athletics for Women"; a love story, College News and great period ads. It has a section on "Some Historic Pitchers" along with pictures and descriptions and "Fancy Stitches and Embroideries" patterns and directions. This magazine offers great insight into the culture of the time and I am sure any history or vintage fashion buff would find great reading inside. The magazine stapled together is intact ( the second page has come loose from the staples but is still glued to the binding) as is the cover and back. Two pages have been torn out. The page numbers start at 496 and the next page is 501. So there are a couple missing fashion pages. The magazine ends on page 682. The cover does have a corner missing and a few tears around the edges as you can see in the photos. I don't see any tears on any of the pages and it is all easy to read even though I am sure there is some yellowing to the pages due to age. It really is in very good condition for its age and a great find for anyone who loves period fashion and culture. Please email if you have any questions. If you are the winning bidder, I will send the item within 3 business days from receipt of payment. Sorry, I am not shipping internationally at this time. Thanks for looking and have a great day! |
