Mimosa Silk Flowering Ornamental Shade Herbal Trees

Persian Silk Mimosa tree (Albizia julibrissin) is widely planted as an ornamental plant grown for fragrance, leaf texture and the delicate soft splash of large decorative powder puff pink flowers. The broad crown of a mature tree makes it useful for providing dappled shade.  The bark or cortex has been historically used to cure bruises and as a vermicide. The seeds have been used as a food for certain livestock and wildlife.  The sweetly-scented flowers are a favored nectar source for honeybees, butterfly, and hummingbirds.  This delightful tree is drought tolerant and a very fast grower reaching several feet a year.  It develops a smooth trunk with a canopy of gracefully arched limbs heavily endowed with numerous blooms and cascading seeds.  In colder climates it can be grown indoors with full sun.  Otherwise, it can be potted on the patio, and thrives in the soil outdoors for maximum growth of around 30 ft or higher.  Zone 6-10.

You will receive 6 seedlings (3 each) approx., 3,and 6 inches high (larger sizes are available for an additional fee). These seedlings are easy to transplant, and can be fast to grow up to 4 ft/year.  They should be individually spaced 18- 20 ft apart to accommodate the wide circumference of their large canopy of limbs.  

Seedlings will be moisture packed (no plastic) and well cushioned inside a cardboard box, instructions provided.
