New Mexico.NM.Exploration.Travel.Plates.DJ.Scarce.1956

"The Centuries of Santa Fe," by Paul Horgan, published by E. P. Dutton & Company, New York, 1956. First Edition. On the original green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine; bit faded to the edges; colorful New Mexico maps as endpapers; it is very clean, straight and tight; previous owner's name and address written on the back of the front cover; measurement 8 1/2" x 6"; 363 pages. Dust jacket is unclipped; tears and chipping all over the edges; rubbed to the edges and with very large tears; in poor condition. From the dust jacket: "Here is the living history of a unique city as recreated by one of America's most interesting historians and most distinguished novelists. It is the chronicle of three stirring centuries of social change, from the days when Santa Fe was Spain's northernmost capital in the New World to the present. Years of research in historical archives have given Mr. Horgan an intimate knowledge of Santa Fe past. In this brilliant and original book we see how the different peoples of Santa Fe-Indian, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo-American-have contributed their blood and effort to make the city which is their monument." If you have some questions pls. e-mail me.
