This auction is for a Hull Little Red Riding Hood Salt Canister.  This is a very rare piece and is listed at $2499 with a popular replacement company - if it had one to offer!     

     The colors are clear and the red is bright and in what I consider perfect condition - very unusual for vintage red glazes.   The gold detailing is in excellent condition as well.  There is one small chip in the front on the blue skirting on the top of the canister that can be seen in the picture and a little larger one on the right side.  There is a tiny chip on the skirt on the left.     On in the inside there is a line of clay residue that wasn't sponged out properly during the greenware cleaning.  It was then glazed over.  It became discolored over the years  - this is a manufacturing flaw, not a crack.  The canister has no crazing - just the usual glaze pops.   A couple of underglaze mistakes are on the lid - all production flaws.  The inside of the lid is clean.  The decal is a little uneven - again, a result of production.    Des. Pat. No 135889  is clearly visible on the bottom.

       I consider this piece to be in VERY GOOD condition with no structural problems.    This is a very rare find and a great opportunity to own a piece of this highly collectible design. 

          All antique ceramic items will have some flaws especially glaze skips or glazed over imperfections.  There was little or no quality control years ago.   Anything attributable to the manufacturing process is not considered damage.   This piece is at least 50 years old.  As one antique dealer says - if you want perfect, buy new - even then it might not be perfect.

           I have provided pictures of this piece from all angles.  The piece is sold "as is".   Because of the great delicacy of this item and the danger of possible careless repacking of this lovely piece,  I will not accept a return or offer a refund unless this item is  grossly  misrepresented.
