Who is Henriette Davidis?
As Louis Pitschmann writes: "Her name became synonymous with reliable recipes for housewives and hostesses, and references to her and her cookbook occur repeatedly throughout German literature from the nineteenth to the late twentieth century as a literary allusion and as a source of indisputable culinary authority."
Davidis wrote several cookbooks in Germany and just before passing she had written one more book, to be published in America for the Germans who had immigrated there.
