"Atlas of the City of Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, Wards 24, 27, 34, 40, 44, & 46," 1918
This is an original 1918 atlas consisting of maps from actual surveys and official plans published by G.W. Bromley out of Philadelphia. Landowners names are shown on the maps along with other identifications of buildings, businesses, schools, churches, hotels, etc. Other places of interest such as parks, cemeteries, bridges, railroads and many, many more. There are 43 handcolored double paged plates. approximately 33" x 23".
We rate the overall condition of this book to be: fair to good with all pages removed from the binding.
The atlas has been professionally disassembled as shown in the pictures. Pages are loose and placed within a handmade acid free folder to keep them together and protected for the future. Although very brittle, the pages are quite clean other than the 1st couple of pages like the Title Page and Street Index page. See pictures. Some tears have been stabilized with archival tape. The far edges of most pages will have small cuts and tears and the pages can sometimes be described as brittle as is typical of atlases of this size and vintage.
