Pair skull fencing swords sword rapier civil war c 1860

Finest quality fencing rapier style swords the blades are fantastic quality made in france by Klingenthal circa 1850  the condition of both swords is great each sword has a very cool grim reaper pommel, the blades are live steel and could be easily sharpened if the winnerwished to do so. personally think they are great as they are.

new leather has been wrapped around each of the handle as the original leather had worn away.

Klingenthal started making fencing swords in 1850 having been making top quality military swords for 100s of years prior my thoughts on this pair are they were either made for a fraternity such as the masons ect or made as a showcase of their skill in order to obtain sales.

The blades still have the same useability they will have had over 150 years ago the blades are still fantastic no pitting or rust always a sign of quality on such an old bit of steel.

They are great fun and still fully useable for practice fencing.
