Each Rubbing is a hand made original This is a hand made rubbing of Saint George and the Dragon, measuring 13" X 8 1/2", created with gold and silver wax crayons on a special black rag paper. The woodcut is from the 1590 edition of Spencer's 'The Fairie Queen', dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I. Saint George is depicted as a medieval armoured knight on horseback and symbolised the triumph of the Christian church over evil and paganism. The border is a Celtic knotwork design. This woodcut is from an exhibition featured at The Washington National Cathedral by The London Brass Rubbing Centre and has more recently been on a National tour as part of their brass rubbing workshop. Rubbings like this one, hand made by one of my craft instructors, make unusual and interesting gifts. I will send it to you rolled up in a strong postal tube. It can be hung either from wooden dowels or matted and framed under glass. Shipping and handling charges include insurance cover during transit. I am pleased to offer a combined shipping cost if you decide to buy more than one rubbing and they can be rolled together into one mailing tube. I invite you to visit my ebay store, The Wonders of Britain, where you will find a wide variety of beautiful and interesting things. |
