MOVIE ACTOR GARY COOPER AUTOGRAPHED FRAMED PHOTO

The autographed and dated studio photograph is framed in an expensive gold leaf frame, measuring approximately 12 ½” x 14”, with acid free double matting in dark brown with a tan insert. Cooper is looking dapper and suave in a three-piece suit. He is holding a cigarette and is wearing a watch fob. He has signed in large brown ink his name and date, “GARY COOPER 1947” (or 1941). This signed Gary Cooper item is beautifully framed and is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, and this was in Raleigh DeGeer Amyx’s personal Collection for 25 years and was always a favorite. Cooper was born Frank James Cooper (1901-1961) in Montana and began his Hollywood career in 1925 as an “extra”. He became a “movie star” with THE VIRGINIAN, in 1929, his first sound picture. He went on to receive five academy award nominations for Best Actor. He won twice ~~ in 1942 for SERGEANT YORK; and again in 1953 for his performance in HIGH NOON, with co-star Grace Kelly. In 1961, shortly before his death from prostate cancer, he was awarded an honorary Oscar by the Academy. He was too ill to attend, and his friend Jimmy Stewart accepted on his behalf.
