Cook book is in very good conditon firm, tight, together, cover is bright and unfaded but the book was wrapped in newspaper to protect it and some newspaper is clinging to the cover. It's a hard to find cook book and a grand reference to cooking and house keeping and domestic economy in the second half of the 19th century. This is a very in depth cook book as it includes info on housekeeping, kitchen furnishing, household management, household memoranda, piece rags, dusters, kitchen holders, paper and string, mending, rainy days, packing away summer or winter clothing, cleaning, sheets, pay as you go, how to clear a table, hints on economy, rules for eating, the use of fuel, kitchen ranges, grate fires, soups, meat, fish, fowl, vegetables and all the other types of recipes cooked by the housewife of 1880. Size is 5" by 7 3/4" by 316. The page edges on all three sides are color marbled. Shipped boxed and padded to protect this ancient book.
