This is a collectible Dixie Lid. This type of lid came on a small paperboard container known as a Dixie Cup which held about 3 ounces of ice cream. The bottom of the lid had a picture on it which was protected from the ice cream by a thin sheet of waxed paper. The Dixie Cups with pictures on the inside of the lid started in the 1930's and ended in the mid-1950's. Most of the lids had major movie stars and cowboy movie stars pictures featured on them with references to particular movies. But there were also some lids with military scenes produced during the World War Two era as well as other lids with various animals, circus animals and performers, baseball players and so forth. On the top side of the lid there was often dairy labeling. Today these Dixie Lids are popular with those who collect movie memorabilia, baseball memorabilia, WWII memorabilia, dairy memorabilia, circus memorabilia and so forth.

Both sides of this Dixie Lid are shown in the picture included with this description. This Dixie Lid measures about 2.75 inches in diameter.
