1st American edition of Sherlock Holmes final adventures in the original and very scarce dust wrapper. Please refer to photos for condition.Considerable edge wear to the DJ and chips missing from head and foot of spine.Inscription inside on f.e.p. reads,"To Morris from Aunt Marnie".No other marks anywhere. The binding is still strong on this copy. Notice that the King of Sleuths is smoking a CIGAR and not the trademark pipe we've come to expect.I suppose this is an American adjustment to Sherlock's image and a contemporary class-identifier! Please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding this rare book and DJ. On Nov-06-09 at 05:10:30 PST, seller added the following information:A kind viewer has informed us that this is not a true first. The copyright page states date as 1917 by George Doran and the A.L. Burt Co. advertises iteslf on the dj as publishers of "popular reprint fiction".This by no means detracts from the obvious scarcity of this bit of Sherlock ephemera!! |
