UNITED AIRLINES A Gay Geography Ruth Taylor White RARE

Description: This is an old booklet / brochure entitled "UNITED AIRLINES, A GAY GEOGRAPHY OF THE MAIN LINE".  It is illustrated by Ruth Taylor White.

Brochure is about 16 pages long including the covers, and measures about 5" x 10.5" when folded, and 10" x 10.5" (each page) when opened. 

Printed on the inside it says "You are invited to keep this "Gay Geography" as a souvenir of your flight".  From this I assume that this was an item included in the seat pocket of early United Airlines flights.

In the research I have done I have learned that the illustrator of this booklet / brochure, Ruth Taylor White was one of the most prolific makers of pictographic maps - having a whimsical style unmatched by others.  Many of her single maps sell for between $50-100 today.  Other well known maps done by her of Hawaii, Arizona, are often featured on eBay, but this item is quite a bit more rare.  Printed in the first inside page it says "The cartography is the work of Ruth Taylor.  For certain of the historical data included in this log, United is indebted to Frank J. Taylor."

This booklet has no date on it, but I understand it was first published in 1935.  The many pages of this booklet show the routes of United Airline's Main Line Airway - from coast to coast - and are filled with detail and charicatures all along the way.  Each map is in and of its own quite suitable for framing.

Condition: Excellent...very good...almost like new.
