This is an absolutely superb antique sterling silver and shell photo frame hallmarked for Birmingham 1907 and is by the silversmith Lawrence Emanuel who worked from Warstone Parade, Birmingham at this time. The silver surround is in lovely condition and the shell has lovely vibrant colour and everything is in excellent condition. It measures 3 1/2" (9 cms) x 2 1/4" (6 cms) across with the actual opening measuring 2 3/4" (7 cms) x 1 1/2" (3.5 cms). The back is covered in a green/gold velvet which is quite worn with an easel style backstand so it stands up perfectly.
