Avon Faience Antique FINE Porcelain Hand Painted Mug

This tankard mug, finely painted, is in excellent condition without chips, cracks or any repairs. There is a little wear to the gold on the rim and moderate wear to the gold accents on the handle. This piece is marked "Avon Faience" of Tiltonsville, Ohio. Circa 1902-1905.

This is the ink stamp for the December 1902 incorporation of J.N. Vance & Sons, La Belle Riverside, and Avon Faience into the Wheeling Potteries Co. which ceased operation in 1905.

The hand-painted scene is of a countryside and village in the distance. There is a woman carrying her child with other villagers walking just steps behind them. This scene warms the heart to think back to simpler times. Very beautifully done with very little wear to the decoration.

This mug stands 4 3/8" tall by about 4 3/8" wide to the end of the handle.
