"The Slosson Intelligence Test is a screening tool designed to give a quick estimate of a person's general verbal cognitive ability. The SIT-R is used by those who need to evaluate the mental ability of individuals who have learning disabilities, mental retardation, blindness, orthopedic disabilities, as well as those who are gifted or who have no disabilities. Test items assess general information, similarities and differences, vocabulary comprehension, arithmetic, and auditory memory. The SIT-R3 includes a supplementary manual for the visually impaired/blind. Users can continue to use the SIT-R, but all new materials (performance items, enhanced materials) are inclusive in the SIT-R3 kit. Administration and Scoring Test questions use contemporary vocabulary. All test item presentations and responses are verbal. Norms are presented in 3-month intervals for ages 4-0 through 17-11, with one normative group for ages 18-0 through 64-9. The SIT-R overall score is reported as a deviation IQ with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 16. Percentile ranks and performance categories are also provided. Administration takes 10-20 minutes."
