I am offering the Very Rare Cherry Pickers Variety FS-401 Eisenhower Dollar 1971-S Silver "PEG LEG". This coin is graded by PCGS as MS64 and labeled as "Silver Peg Leg FS-401". This variety was featured as one of the cover articles in the January 2008 issue of The Numismatist Magazine. Article starts on page 48. It is also a recognized variety in The Cherry Pickers Guide Book and identified with the FS-401 Variety Number. The three major die markers of this variety are as follows: #1 - the fading "pirates leg" on the "R" in Liberty, see photo of a normal leg "R" with red arrows for comparison, #2 & #3 - the asymmetric "T & Y" (the left arms of the T & Y are thinner and narrower than the right hand arms) also in the word Liberty on the obverse of the coin. As of Sept. 20, 2009 PCGS has only graded and labeled 101 coins as Silver Peg Leg FS-401. POPS as follows: MS62 = 1 coin MS63 = 24 coins MS64 = 45 coins MS65 = 20 coins MS66 = 10 coins MS67 = 1 coin This is a white coin with markings consistant with the MS64 grade. It has virtually no toning, and no finger prints or haze. This is the "UP AND COMING" new variety and will surely rank with the 1972-P TY 2 in a very short time as a MAJOR Variety in the Eisenhower Dollar Series. Here is a link to the article published in The Numismatist. This coin is needed by anyone wanting to have a PCGS Eisenhower Set with complete Varieties. http://www.money.org/AM/Flash/NumismatistArticle/71SSilverPegLegFullArticle.pdf FREE Insured shipping. |
