This is a great backpack for all your needs. It is sometimes marketed as an internal frame backpack but it doesn't have a frame. It is styled after the popular hiking backpacks with a main compartment, two rear compartments, a compartment on each side and one on top. There are lots of straps to secure your load and hang gear from on the outside of the pack. The rain flap is large enough to cover gear extending 4" out of the main comparement. The hip belt opens upto at least 44" and there is a chest strap to keep the shoulder straps together and the load even. Since it doesn't have a ridgid frame it loads well with other equipment when in use and folds out of the way when its not. It could also be used to hold your emergency kit or be used as a travel bag. It measures 26" x 12" x 9" in the main compartment with extra room in the pouches. This backpack is big enough to do the job without taking up too much room.
