ARTEC researched and studied numerousexamples from this period to ensure the GVS-1 produces an historically accurate vintage tone in a balanced set. Start with a special gauge of Formvar wire with the exact number of turns to give you clear clean highs and that all important presence. Alnico V magnets with slightly beveled pole pieces like the early '60s, black fiber bobbin and cloth lead wires render smooth bell like tones. Staggered pole pieces for an even tone and wax dipped in a special mix of parafin and bees in a vacuum environment to eliminate microphonic noise.
As a set, the pickups were designed for total balance with a little extra "chunk" in switch positions 2 and 4 (5 way switch) with the middle position being RWRP (Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity) to eliminate hum. The neck has a 6.0K output, middle 6.3K and bridge a hotter 6.9K for those crunchy solos! ONLY $49.95
