Long running companion magazine to NEW WORLDS. First appearing in 1950, over ninety issues appeared over the following years. The first two issues were edited by Walter Gillings, the chair then being taken over by John Carnell for many years. It eventually ceased publication in 1967, having changed it's name to IMPULSE and the format to regular paperback size. An important British magazine.

Stunning cover art to this early copy of Science Fantasy by Reina Bull one of the few women artists working in the field of SF. She did several covers for both New Worlds and Science Fantasy and so far as I know these are the only examples of her distinctive style of artwork remaining and she appears to have disappeared into obscurity which is a great shame. Front cover of the magazine is clean with bright artwork. Small chip to top left of front cover plus light vertical crease near to spine. Back cover lightly age soiled. Spine complete and undamaged. Interior pages in excellent condition with no signs of age tanning. A few small spots to a couple of pages. Tight and square copy in collectable condition.

POSTAL DISPUTE: The current postal dispute seems to be getting quite serious and although we have personally not experienced any serious delays in deliveries it seems inevitable that something we send out will eventually get stuck in the system. All items are normally sent out within 24 hours of payment received [except at weekends] but if you experience what you consider to be an unreasonable delay please contact us to confirm date of posting. A receipt of postage is obtained for all items sent. When items are due for posting on a strike day and the post is being collected by "management" we will hold the item and post the day after the strike as it appears that these collections are the items being more severely delayed.
This will obviously lead to an increased delivery time but we feel that this is more likely to ultimately ensure that your item arrives as quickly as possible. We apologise in advance for any possible delays but obviously these are circumstances beyond our control.

Packages sent outside of the U.K. are normally sent standard air mail [small packet] rate. For additional security we recommend that recorded delivery/signed for is considered, especially for more valuable items and this postal option will normally be offered.

WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL CASES RECENTLY WHERE PAYPAL AND EBAY ADDRESSES DIFFER. IN ADDITION ITEMS HAVE BEEN RETURNED WHERE A TOTALLY INCORRECT ADDRESS HAS BEEN SUPPLIED. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR PARTICULARS ARE UP TO DATE AND CORRECT MAILING ADDRESS IS GIVEN WHEN MAKING PAYMENT. THE EXTRA COSTS INCURRED WHEN RE-POSTING WILL NOT BE ABSORBED AND ADDITIONAL PAYMENT WILL HAVE TO BE MADE TO COVER THESE COSTS.
RETURNS: We always try to describe items honestly and accurately. However if you feel that an item differs substantially from this description, please advise us as soon as possible after receipt. Returns will be accepted within fourteen days from receipt and must be returned in original or similar packaging. Refunds will be sent via Paypal or U.K. Sterling cheque depending on your original method of payment. Under no circumstances do we use any other method of refund.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING
Ebay have now changed the feedback procedure making it impossible for sellers to leave anything other than positive feedback whilst leaving buyers at liberty to leave feedback, fair or otherwise as they please. At a stroke Ebay have created what appears to be a buying environment of 100% perfect buyers. It is patently obvious that this does not reflect the reality. There is a very small, but now increasing minority of buyers who never communicate and leave payment to the last possible moment. In addition they rarely leave feedback for the seller. Despite the posting of ebay non payer alerts, so long as payment is eventually made, these people can continue to operate in this manner without fear of any penalties being imposed by Ebay or of possible neutral /negative feedback from the seller. This is totally unbalanced and makes a nonsense of the feedback system so far as the seller is concerned. It is equally important that sellers can identify time wasting and unreliable buyers as well as buyers being able to identify unprofessional & misleading conduct on the part of sellers. In response Firebird Records will now make the following buyer requirements:
ALL ITEMS MUST BE PAID FOR, IN FULL WITHIN SEVEN DAYS FROM END OF AUCTION. IF FOR ANY REASON THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE BIDDING
ANY BUYER NOT PAYING OR AT THE VERY LEAST RESPONDING WITHIN THIS PERIOD WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE ISSUED WITH A NON PAYING BIDDER ALERT
WINNERS WHO HAVE ALERTS ISSUED AGAINST THEM WILL NOW BE BARRED FROM ALL FUTURE AUCTIONS.
