H.TYGESEN(1890-1951)-LARGE PASTEL-Irish Farmhouse-B.C

Here is your chance to own a pastel painting by Danish born and listed Canadian artist Halfred Tygesen (1890-1951). He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and came to Canada in 1926. Before immigrating to Canada he attended art school in Denmark and became a member of the Danish Royal Academy.

In Canada he introduced new shades of pastel that were called the "New Genre Color." (see photo of Label-great marketing for those day !!!... Tygesen's work is similar to that of the renowned American pastel artist William Henry Chandler (1854-1928) of New York. Many of Tygesen's works are done in a liquid pastel, the creation of Denmark's Professor Karl Madsen, whose pastels are guaranteed not to fade.

Tygesen's modern style, however, is all his own. His paintings are done on Dutch canvas board, and the present offering is one of his LARGE size ones. He painted rural landscapes and sailboat harbour scenes from one end of Canada to the other.  His depiction of shadow and light is magnificent. This painting will provide its new owner with many years of pleasure and pride. Halfred Tygesen's  was often quoted as saying: "No one is too rich and no one is too poor to own a Tygesen pastel."

He signed it lower  corner in pencil- and also on the back. Painted in original Pastel by the Danish Artist H.A.Tygesen. Measurements are 24 inch x 20 inch framed and 16 inch x 20 inch pastel only.
