This is a 2-page photo feature, The Big Clock Hunt - The "Sentinel" pays off on a premium after 40 years. This is the story of a free clock, offered as a premium by the Twin-City Daily Sentinel in Winston-Salem, NC in 1911, that was awarded 40 years later to Timothy Shea of New York, in 1951. It is illustrated from photographs by Mark Kauffman. Illustrations include: columnist Mary Wiley checks original ad on her microfilm screen; clock hunter City Editor Sherman Shore masterminded search; clockfinder ex-Circulation Manager Bradley Welfare examines an electric clocksent to Shea as bonus; coupon clipper Timothy Shea proudly hangs clock, which does not work; clock owners turned up by Sentinel search cling to clocks for sentimental reasons.
Page size approximately 11" x 14". Any lines on the image are from my scanner. The page is larger than my scanner and appears cut off but is not. From: LIFE Magazine - February 5, 1951. Condition: Very good with foxing. The pages may have small edge tears and small folds consistent with magazine pages of this vintage. The item is shipped in a new poly bag in a new long mailing tube.
