This auction is for a hard-to-find hardcover book titled...   The Amazing Mr. Doolittle: A Biography of Lieutenant General James Doolittle    ...   by Quentin Reynolds   ...  A Biography of Lieutenant General James H. Doolittle.    Doolittle was an American aviation pioneer. In the 1920s, he helped to develop instrument panels for use in airplanes; prior to that point, pilots flew by their senses alone, which could be very dangerous when visibility was poor, such as in cloudy conditions. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Doolittle was recalled to active duty in the Army Air Force. He volunteered to plan and lead the first retaliatory attack on Japanese soil, the "Doolittle Raid," with B-25 bomber planes in April 1942. President Roosevelt awarded Doolittle the Medal of Honor for his bravery in the raid.
