Antique Ambrotype Photo-2 African American Children-NYC
This ambrotype shows two African American children posing in their Sunday best for a studio portrait. The ambrotype is in fair condition having some damage to the emulsion. The green color of a cardboard backing shows through in places. This green card is actually a ticket to a benefit fair for St. Vincent de Paul in New York City (between Broadway and Bleeker Streets). It is dated 1860. The case is split but otherwise in good condition.
