This lovely Miniature Victorian Oil Lamp is pictured on page 148 of Ruth Smith's second book - Miniature Lamps II - revised second edition 2000.
Identified as Fig. 267 - Smith describes this lamp: "White milk glass lamp paneled with multi-colored flowers. gold paint around top and bottom of embossing. Dresden mark on bottom. Also comes painted with wind-mill scene in blue. Made by Pairpoint Glass Co., New Bedford, Mass. ca. 1896. Acorn burner; 8-1/4" high."
This particular piece is a beautiful example. The only difference being the mark - "Pairpoint" - the maker.
Condition: Outstanding! - minor roughness to both the top and bottom edges of the ball shade and what looks like a bit of gold touch-up paint to the inside of the top edge. Top half of 2 prongs missing on the shade ring chimney gallery. Clear glass chimney is likely a replacement - marked: JAPAN in red on the bottom. Minimal wear to the gilding - mostly to the beading at the neck. The colors are still bright!
