#2 CHERRY/QUILTED MAPLE SHAKER OVAL PRESENTATION BOX

This # 2 size SHAKER PRESENTATION BOX is handcrafted following time honored Shaker Traditions.This style of box is a rare form produced by the Shakers.This box is very hard to make because of the slim oblong shape.The cherry bands have their " fingers" handcut, are soaked in hot water, wrapped around a wooden form,then the fingers are attached with small copper tacks.The heavily figured Spalted Quilted Maple top  and cherry bottom are cut and carefully fitted into place using small wooden pegs.The box is then given an oil finish, followed by a lacquer top coat and a wax overcoat..The size of this box is  7 5/8 " long x 3 1/2  "wide x 1 3/4 " tall.
