A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.

Franked with 3 cent GAR Civil War commemorative stamp. Union General Edward Canby was born November 9, 1817 in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. A West Point graduate (Class of 1839) he fought Rebel Gen Sibley in New Mexico in 1961-62 and was Commanding General of NYC just after the 1863 draft riots. He was wounded aboard the USS Cricket on the White River in Arkansas in 1864 and accepted the surrender of Confederate forces in 1865. He remained in the US Army and was murdered by an Indian chief in 1873. A Liberty Ship SS Edward Canby was named for him and built by Oregon Ship Building in Portland in 1943.
