“It contains carefully selected actual pages from original factory sales catalogs, factory advertisements, supply house catalogs, and sales brochures; and covers American and some imported clocks from 1873 to the 1940’s. The following information is given for each clock: The year it was offered for sale; the factory description; the price it sold for originally; and the present retail price [1979]. Over 95% of all clocks manufactured or sold in the United States since 1850 can be identified and a reasonably close retail value determined by comparing your clock with a picture of it or a similar one in this book. You are holding a very unique book. The original antique and historical material has not been altered. Long after the current retail prices no longer apply to the clocks shown herein, it will still be very valuable to anyone interested in clocks for research and identification.”
