Game Description: Sim Ant from Maxis (the developer of The Sims, Sim City, and Sim just about anything else you can think of) is an easy to play simulation of an ant colony. In Sim Ant your quest is to develop a thriving ant colony and protect it from threats, rebuild after disasters and cope with the stresses of ant life. The player is cast in the role of an ant (a black ant to be more precise) in an ant colony in the back yard of a home in suburbia. To triumph, the player must defeat the enemy red ants, expand the colony to cover the entire garden and eventually to expand into the house driving out all enemies (red ants, antlions and humans).
The game was developed in 1991 by Sim City author Will Wright who based the game on elements of real ant biology and behavior. The game received a CODiE award from the Software Publisher's Association in 1992.
The game has three modes: Quick Game, Full Game and Experimental. Quick Game and Full Game involve developing an ant colony in the back yard and battling the red colony to ultimate victory or defeat. The Expermiental Game adds some elements such as control of red ants, mazes, pheremone trails, insecticide, rocks, walls and food which vary the game play significantly.
This game is fun for both kids and adults and has enough variation for multiple plays.
