His bold, manly Shakespearean portrayals exemplified Andrew Jackson's America, and he was later notorious for his rivalry with the English tragedian Williiam Charles Macready, which culminated in the Astor Place Riots, and for his sensational divorce trial. A rare original calling card of Edwin Forrest circa 1860. Dimensions three and a quarter by two inches. Light wear else fine. Domestic buyer pays insured shipping. Foreign shipping by airmail.
