Original or Reproduction: Original engraved mapProduct Type: Antique Map

You are bidding on an extremely rare and very beautiful  100 % genuine antique  map of the above region and year from the incredibly rare and almost non-existent Morse's North American Atlas by Sidney Morse and Samuel Breese. The complete atlas is valued at $8,000 to $10,000.   If you want one of these maps, then my starting price is much less that the purchase price of the entire atlas.  This atlas is so rare that individual maps rarely come up for sale and many collectors are not even familiar with these beautiful maps due to the rarity of this atlas.  Purchasing any one of these maps from the ones that I have listed will certainly be a great addition to you collection !!!  Buy one now because you may never have another chance.

Atlas Information:

Morse & Breese's North American Atlas was a landmark in American Cartography, being the first atlas to employ the cerographic printing process, which would revolutionize the map trade. The Morse family and this process are the subject of David Woodward's The All American Map. The maps were first printed in a series of inserts which appeared in the New York Post, and then later as a separate atlas.

An essential map for American Map collectors, illustrating an important change in the history of printed maps and the only truly American cartographic publishing innovation.

This map is NOT a copy or reproduction and is an original antique map from the year shown.

General Description:

1.This stunning original map engraving has original hand coloring. It is noteworthy because of its precise engraving, as well as for its size and detail. These maps are becoming extremely scarce to obtain.  Political boundaries as well as individual regions/counties and shows towns, roads, railways, rivers, lakes, bays, harbors, islands and other important places.

2. The map is in excellent condition considering the age of the map.  The overall size of the map sheet is approximately 15 inches by 12 inches.   The map is far more beautiful than my pictures show. This map will look wonderful when matted and framed and will be a great addition to your collection.

3.  The map is a 100% orignal and genuine antique map from the above year.  - The copyright year is printed as text in the lower margin border.

4.  All of my maps are investment grade and collectible quality.  The value of this original will only increase over time.  Many people are now starting to offer cheap reproductions/copies. - be carefull !!    Why spend the money for something like that when you can have an original for a few dollars more that will only increase in value over time?

5.  Super low starting price.

** I DO NOT SELL REPRODUCTIONS !!!

** I DO NOT SELL COPIES !!!

**  Please review all of my positive feeback of satisfied winners from past auctions.

Map Collecting:

Maps are great gifts and perfect decorative additions to any home or office. They are compelling objects that instantly grab people’s attention and transport them to a different time and place. Owning an antique map is much like owning a window into the past. An antique map can be a veritable passage back in time, allowing one to imagine the world much as the mapmaker himself did 100, 200 or even 300 years ago!  These are great collectibles not only for their decorative and art value but as a financial investment as well.  Remember, these are becoming more rare everyday as collectors purchase them, and of course they are not making the atlases any longer, so purchase a map while they are still affordable.
