ANTIQUE Armoire LOUIS XV Country FRENCH Provincial WARDROBE

We have here another wonderful find in this Handsome Country French Armoire.

It stands approximately 7 feet 11 inches tall, has a width of about 44 inches and a depth of approximately 17 1/4 inches.

Here is an example of fine French furniture which has been crafted of a lovely selection of Walnut, very rich and warmly grained. This Beautiful Armoire features an exquisitely carved top centerpiece featuring an intricately executed upper Crown featuring a highly detailed Leaf motif as well as a wonderful deep bevel on each of its two Mirrored Doors.

We absolutely love the wonderful details featured here such as the angled lines of the wood grain which have been placed within the gracefully curved upper area and the exquisite design of the wood pattern within the handsome oval upon the exterior of the bottom drawer. Fluted Corner edges and gracefully curved applied moldings to upper cornice add additional visual impact.

We open the door and view its interior boasting warmly paneled Oak back and side panels, beautiful  Doors and a ratchet system for placement of shelves. Shown in the photograph are 3 of its shelves in place. There is an extra shelf which is included in this auction. In the photograph you will see it resting upon the right door. In addition, This wonderful Armoire also features a lower drawer and a Key.

We love the deeper tone of the walnut presented on both Side Panels as well as 'framing' the area around both mirrored doors. We are not exactly certain, but in our opinion, this deeper tone was added by some previous owner with a very artistic sensibility who very successfully created a wonderful backdrop to help the Two Mirrored doors 'pop'. The Visual interest is quite grand.

We also see that a previous owner had cut a rectangle out of the back panel, perhaps for some modern equipment connections. We do not consider this of any major consequence and it certainly does not detract from the Majesty of this Magnificent Armoire.

As the eye travels downward, we are completely captivated by the exquisitely carved legs of this wonderful example of fine French Cabinetry.

The Top section can lift off which is a lovely feature for moving from one area to another.

It is basically in lovely Antique condition with those always anticipated few areas of minor surface wear and age-related patina we so desire in charming older pieces. We do believe it is those areas if and when they do exist are what actually exude the warmth, charm and character we so desire in our homes.

Just give it a gentle cleaning, perhaps a bit of appropriate polish and it will soon be ready to become that very special addition to your home for which you've long searched. It will certainly bring you much pleasure and numerous compliments.

All it really needs now is a new loving owner. It is definitely ready to be a beautiful addition to your tastefully-appointed maison francaise.
